This scene shows part of the North Garden before the Trust started work. The yew trees that once formed a hedge are yet to be pollarded and the shrubbery needs to be cleared to make way for the re-created parterre garden.
This view of the North Garden  looking west is taken from near the Dovecote in the East Courtyard. It shows the new yews that will, in a few years, form the low hedges of the recreated parterre shown in the Beighton Prospect of 1726.

The yew hedges to the west and north were created by pollarding the overgrown trees shown in the previous picture. The hedge along the east wall of the garden, shown in the foreground, is being regenerated by the same process.
